LUMIO 23 questions
A

Historically, pest control devices were kept in back-of-house areas to avoid disrupting interior aesthetics and the customer experience. Today, however, the environment has fundamentally changed.

Modern customers are far more observant, brand-conscious, and quick to share their perceptions — especially in an era driven by online reviews and social media.

Visible pest control devices such as traps, bait stations, and insect light units can:

  • Create a perception of poor hygiene, even when pest management is fully under control
  • Trigger negative reviews or social media exposure, amplifying reputational risk
  • Undermine trust in the brand, especially in premium, customer-facing environments

Businesses can no longer rely solely on traditional back-of-house pest management. Very few conventional insect light traps complement high-end front-of-house aesthetics without drawing unwanted attention.

LUMIO changes this paradigm.

  • Stop hiding. LUMIO is the design solution for pest control.
  • LUMIO delivers effective, visible yet highly discreet flying insect control, designed to seamlessly blend into even the most upmarket environments. Its refined design complements the customer’s brand while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene control in sensitive, customer-facing spaces.
  • By making pest management both visible and aesthetically aligned, LUMIO not only demonstrates a proactive commitment to hygiene and compliance but also enhances the overall customer experience — turning a traditionally hidden necessity into a subtle mark of quality and professionalism.

LUMIO attracts a wide range of flying insect pests through its proprietary UV-Enhanced LED Dual Wavelength technology — 365 / 450 nm — using both direct and indirect UV light spectrum emission. Attracted insects are then captured on a dual glueboard system consisting of a rigid paperboard substrate coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive, contained inside the unit body.

LUMIO features both a vertical rear glueboard and a horizontal base glueboard, specifically designed to eliminate insect fallout.

This dual-capture configuration ensures that insects are securely retained upon contact, preventing debris from escaping the unit and maintaining a clean, hygienic environment — particularly critical in sensitive, customer-facing spaces. Average effective coverage is approximately 82 m².

LUMIO glue boards are compliant with FDA 21 CFR 175.105 / 175.125 for food contact, making them uniquely suited for deployment in food service, hospitality, and HACCP-regulated environments subject to third-party audits.

  • The LUMIO LED UV module delivers indirect light with no harmful UV exposure and no glare — providing safe, comfortable operation for people nearby.
  • While conventional UV lamps can generate toxic materials and ozone, LUMIO uses eco-friendly, glass-free LEDs for completely safe, worry-free operation.
  • LUMIO is RoHS compliant, meeting EU Directive 2011/65/EU and 2015/863, which restricts hazardous substances — including lead, mercury, and cadmium — to safe levels, protecting human health and the environment during manufacturing and disposal.
  • The LUMIO unit body is fully recyclable.
A

LUMIO is a pest control solution like no other.

  • It redefines expectations — looking unlike any conventional front-of-house insect light trap on the market today.
  • More than a device, LUMIO is an object of design — an expression of elegance that enhances its surroundings rather than detracting from them.
  • It blends seamlessly and discreetly into any environment, delivering highly effective, unobtrusive flying insect control without compromising the visual experience.

Your brand. Our technology. One seamless solution.

A

Traditionally, customers had little to no opportunity to incorporate their own branding into pest control devices — particularly in front-of-house spaces. Most solutions were never designed with brand visibility in mind.

LUMIO changes this completely.

LUMIO offers large-format, full-colour branding options, allowing customers to prominently display their logo and brand identity directly on the unit. The result is not only visually appealing but purposefully designed to enhance the surrounding space.

By integrating branding with discreet, effective pest control, LUMIO helps to:

  • Reinforce a perception of high hygiene standards
  • Demonstrate proactive pest management
  • Strengthen and elevate the customer’s brand presence

LUMIO transforms a functional necessity into a powerful brand asset — perfectly suited for modern, customer-facing environments.

A

LUMIO is designed to be highly effective and responsible, with numerous improvements over traditional insect light traps:

  • Mercury-free, eco-friendly LED UV light module
  • LED module rated 5+ years (R50, 60,000+ hours per ANSI/IES LM-80 / TM-21) — no annual replacement cycle, significantly reduced waste
  • Glass-free LED UV module — third-party audit compliant for food and pharmaceutical environments
  • Glare-free design — eliminates direct UV exposure to eyes or skin
  • Fully recyclable unit body
  • RoHS compliant — human safety assured during manufacture and disposal
  • FDA food contact compliant glue boards
  • DC 12V electrical architecture via IEC 62368-1 certified adaptor (SELV — no mains voltage in unit body)
  • Ultra-low 16W power consumption
  • CE marked (LVD)
  • FCC Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC)
  • US EPA Establishment No. 103535-KOR-1
  • NRCS Letter of Authority (South Africa) — power supply unit
A

The LUMIO LED module is rated at 60,000+ hours to R50 — the point at which UV output falls to 50% of its initial value. In continuous 24-hour operation that equates to more than six years, so Innotech states a conservative rated service life of 5+ years.

The figure is projected from ANSI/IES LM-80-15 measured data using the TM-21 method, at 500 mA drive current and 55 °C case temperature. Testing was carried out by a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. Under TM-21 the reported projection is capped at six times the measured duration, so the actual service life may be longer than the stated figure.

This is a structural difference, not an incremental one. Conventional insect light traps use fluorescent UV tubes, which are normally specified for replacement every 12 months because their UV output decays well before the tube fails. LUMIO removes that cycle entirely:

  • No annual replacement cycle — the LED module is rated for the service life of the unit
  • No mercury and no glass to handle, transport, or dispose of
  • Lower total cost of ownership — the recurring cost is the glueboard, not the light source
  • Fewer engineer visits and less consumable waste over the contract term

For service planning, the consumable in a LUMIO unit is the glueboard. The LED module is not a scheduled service item.

LUMIO LED module UV output over operating life. Output falls to 50 percent of initial value at 60,000 hours (R50).

A
